As a local, I always get asked by friends and relatives from overseas about the best things to do to experience Sydney city first hand. The rite of passage for any primary (elementary) school child in Sydney is going to Sydney Aquarium. It is a huge underwater aquarium where you get to experience unique freshwater and marine environments and discover an incredible 13,000 animals from 700 different species - including the world's largest variety of sharks and rays. This is great if you can't or don't like swimming and want to see sharks up close.
At Sydney Aquarium, you'll get to venture through 14 newly-themed zones including a new Shark Walk, a tropical Bay of Rays, an interactive Discovery Rockpool, Mangrove Swamps, a shipwreck and the new ocean tunnel walk-through - Shark Valley. Australia has some of the world's most intriguing marine animals - from dugongs to huge sharks, massive stingrays, majestic turtles, jellyfish, penguins, sea dragons, thousands of tropical fish, enormous crabs and much, much more. You can experience it all without getting wet!
From the freshwater rivers of the south to the tropical waters of the north, including the world's biggest and most impressive Great Barrier Reef exhibit, a trip to Sydney Aquarium takes you around Australia's coastline, into its oceans and up into its waterways - all without leaving the city.
Other than the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House, unique Australian animals would be on the to see list of any tourist's schedule. For the ultimate view of the city of Sydney, you can't go past The Sydney Tower Eye (formally known as the Sydney Centre Point Tower). With a range of tours and walks available, they have packages to suit those of the not so faint hearted to people afraid of heights (but still want to see all of Sydney).
Skywalk Tour
You'll be walking on air 268 metres above stunning Sydney, with the city streets directly beneath your feet. Look down through the glass floor viewing platform for a bird's-eye perspective of the bustling city below, as part of a 45 minute guided tour around the outside of the iconic golden turret of Sydney Tower.
A must visit iconic Sydney attraction has to be the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Built in 1923, it has become a symbol of Sydney and Australia. Most people will take pictures of the bridge or perhaps travel on the bridge via the train or foot, but did you know that the bridge is now hosting bridge walks up to the top of the arch! It is an incredibly exhilarating experience, but rest assured, it is safe as every walker is harnessed.
Last but not least, one of the most well known representations of Australia has to be the Opera House. A unique architecture by Jørn Utzon, it epitomises Sydney and its wonderful shape of peaking crests are recognised all over the world. If you come to Sydney, this is a must visit place. The great thing about the Opera House is, you don't have to go inside or attend any events to tour the area. Feel free to walk about the premises and take pictures. If you want to go inside the Opera House, they do offer tours and musical or theatrical events for the public.

The all-new Cars Zone features the awesome new Cars-themed bouncy
two-track giant inflatable slide and a revamped World Grand Prix
Training Track with brand new electric cars. Young Cars fans will once
again be able to meet and take their photo next to the life-size replica
of Mack The Transporter, thanks to the continued support of Mack Trucks
who celebrate their 50th year in Australia in 2013, and enjoy the

A giant copper puppet girl has strutted her stuff at Sydney's Circular Quay, previewing her performances at the upcoming Royal Easter Show.
Every night of the show, which starts on Thursday, Darcy, a three-storey high puppet operated by five Spanish puppeteers and a 12-metre crane, will perform with monster trucks, stunt bikes and fireworks. The performance, Darcy's Quest, tells the story of her dream of a world without animals.
On Saturday the puppet was walked along Circular Quay as a taster for the Easter Show, which runs from Thursday to Wednesday, April 3.
Darcy's latest appearance was at the London Olympics and she has just travelled 16,000km by ship to Sydney from her home in Barcelona.
Easter Show chief operating officer Michael Collins said Darcy's Quest had a message of conservation and environmental care.
"The show is obviously very focused on sustainability in our farming sector, as well as in all our efforts to entertain and delight Sydneysiders every year, especially in this, 190 years since the first show," he said in a statement.
Darcy's Quest is directed by Di Henry, who has been involved in staging Olympic Games ceremonies, including London.
IT'S THE next best thing to seeing them in real life - the One Direction boys have been immortalised as wax figures at Madame Tussauds.
The world famous wax museum has announced that they are gearing up to debut the One Direction figures next month.
The waxy creations will first appear in London before taking a tour around the globe, set to hit Sydney in October.
"We're just kind of a bit overwhelmed. We've been to Madame Tussauds and seen the kind of people who are in there. It's crazy to think that we will up there with them", an excited Harry Styles said.
"I think it's going to be quite weird to see yourself as a wax figure. But it's an amazing honour to be there. If you look at some of the names that are in there, we are very proud," Louis Tomlinson added.
"We have been overwhelmed by requests for us to feature One Direction," Global Head of Marketing, Liz Wells says.
"The boys have been top of the most wanted personalities list in London, New York and Sydney for the last 12 months, so we are delighted we can now satisfy public demand by bringing their figures to each of these cities in a special 'world tour', which will eventually take in more locations.
"Louis, Liam, Harry, Zayn and Niall have been involved throughout the sculpting process... taking hundreds of precise measurements and discussing the style their figures will be portrayed in", Wells adds.
From start to finish the creation process will take four months and each figure will cost Madame Tussauds $220,000 to make.
Aussie fans will be stoked to hear that, once the sculptures reach Sydney on October 24 they will be here for a three month stay until January 28, 2014.
